I wasn't born till 91 but I imagine it was pretty sweet.(I don't even like Hellraiser)

Just finished Stolen Tongues by Felix Blackwell. @FelixAuthor you managed to give me goosebumps not once but 3 times.
Highly recommend picking it up and giving it a read if you’re looking for a quality independent horror author to get acquainted with!

Classic horror novels cast enormous shadows. I always wonder how many great books published alongside them weren’t carried forward by history.
Dracula was published in 1897 but it wasn't the bestselling gothic horror novel of that year.
That would be The Beetle by Richard Marsh. And not by a little. The Beetle initially sold six times as many copies as Dracula.
The Beetle is the story of a shape-shifting Egyptian entity seeking revenge against a British member of Parliament for murdering a priestess if Isis.
Why Dracula has gone on to become such an enduring phenomenon and The Beetle is largely forgotten, is a bit of a mystery. Perhaps it's because Dracula was easier to adapt for the screen (although there was a silent adaptation of The Beetle in 1919) and has gone on not only to generate a huge number of movies but has become the centrepiece of the vampire subgenre itself.
I think The Beetle is due a revival, particularly as the gender-fluidity of the entity makes it very 'now'.

6 months unemployed, Oliver invents a job no one can prove he’s unqualified for: paranormal home inspector.
Then a woman pays him to spend the night in Lot 17. The problem with pretending to hunt ghosts is that sometimes you find one.
