Treasury has delivered on a key promise of @POTUS' mandate to stop improper payments and fraud before money leaves the Treasury and strengthen the integrity of the federal payment system. Together with the @VP’s Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, this new safeguard addresses a longstanding vulnerability and helps ensure every dollar the federal government spends reaches its intended recipient. Treasury will continue efforts to modernize the federal payment system, strengthen safeguards against fraud and improper payments, and protect taxpayer dollars.

Over the last 5 days, agencies terminated 163 wasteful contracts with a ceiling value of $1.9B and savings of $647M, including, a $35M USAID contract to “acquire contractor support to establish and manage a flexible, quick response mechanism supporting activities that will support democracy and stability in El Salvador”, a $280k DOI contract for “horse mounted patrol groom services”, a $102k DOT contract for an “assessment specialist academics provost office”, a $179k State Dept. contract for “customized English language training to the US embassy in Yerevan, Armenia”, and a $25k DOI contract to “provide facilitation, collaborative problem solving services”.

I worked with the @DOGE team. All they wanted was basic accountability: show us the ACTUAL recipients of the aid. USAID refused.
The agency may have had a noble mission, but it had become an instrument of international destruction.
Moving the funds to @SecRubio at State was the right call.
