I’m grateful to Pen & Sword for putting out my book on the part-time pilots and their Auxiliary squadrons which helped win the Battle of Britain. Thanks for your support!
It’s a real honour (and surprise!) to make the King’s Birthday Honours List with a Deputy Chief of the Air Staff Commendation. Thanks to all who made this possible! Diolch yn fawr!

On this momentous day, I’m thinking of my Granddad, Bert Wade of the Royal Engineers who landed on Gold Beach at Arromanches, almost exactly 4 years since he was evacuated when the Germans invaded. He and 1000s of others had returned.

An open letter, signed by 143 Welsh writers, calling for urgent action to address the financial precarity of news/culture periodicals and websites in Wales. The situation is desperate.
Please read and RT.

As proud today of @RNLI as I’ve always been. Two of my relatives in this picture were lifeboat crew who rescued people from Norwegian ship the St George, in a violent storm off Peel #IsleofMan in 1890. Today as then, rescuing ‘foreigners’ in danger at sea.
It’s been a long and hard winter.
One of the things that has kept me going is passing @RWCMD in Cardiff and hearing music through its open windows into Bute Park. But on this spring-like morning there was something especially joyful about the students’ playing today. Diolch!
