Everyone should slow down except for me
There's about 12 gigawatts of dedicated AI datacenter capacity in the US right now, Anthropic is building 15 more gigawatts over the next few years
That's more than a doubling. That doesn't look like someone interested in slowing down
We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so.
Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training.

Can’t let first class board first and efficiently board the plane, these are competing objectives
First/biz class tickets are much more valuable to the airline then economy. On a per minute basis it likely makes more sense to cater to the highest paying customer than get the plane in the air 12 minutes faster
