ALT "Tudor women have been reduced in popular culture. Telling the truth about women of the past matters more than ever." - Professor Suzannah Lipscomb.
It is not often we see the marvellous Voynich Manuscript in the national press.
Two researchers have proposed that the leaves have been incorrectly bound, making for a confused understanding of the flow of the text and images in the codex. This may well be true, and may prove an important insight into the manuscript.
However, it does not touch on the two principal, overarching oddities and puzzles. (1) Which alphabet and language are this baffling manuscript written in? So far no one has answers. (2) What on earth is it about? Similarly, no one has any firm idea.
For lovers of such mysteries, now may be a good time to mention that the plot of that delightful adventure, The Sword of Moses - voted one of the top 5 religious thrillers of all time - has some Voynich cypher shenanigans!

On this week's episode of HISTORY'S DEVILS, we discuss the notorious - and recently departed - COVID grifter and TV evangelist, Jim Bakker who, in his final years, tried to make money off doomsday preppers.
Didn't end well!

The @nyclandmarks has gone another quarter with no landmark designations, approaching a record low + continuing a trend from Mayor Adams of reducing new landmarks to a trickle or less, even as multiple sites call out for preservation. More + how to help: villagepreservation.org/camp…
