📍 The erosion of affordable housing is not affecting every community equally.
A 2026 study found concentrated levels of tenant displacement in the lower-income and heavily racialized communities of Scarborough, North York, and Etobicoke.
👉 These findings demonstrate how the financialization of housing can deepen existing inequalities. When affordable rental homes are lost, lower-income, racialized, and immigrant tenants face a greater risk of being pushed out of their communities.
