To mark the anniversary, @HouseofHerrera Global Creative Director Wes Gordon custom-designed a dramatic silhouette that comes alive in motion on Karlie. Inspired by a Robert Mapplethorpe portrait of Carolina Herrera, the look recalls the commanding glamour she made her signature while allowing Karlie to bring it somewhere entirely her own. With our deepest thanks to Wes Gordon and Lucas Arraut for their incredible support in bringing this cover to life. La Commedia dell’Arte!🩰 Entering the world of Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger’s 1948 film ‘The Red Shoes,’ a prima in her own right, @MelanieLBBH plays with its ideas of art and obsession becoming inseparable. Photographed by An Le, Melanie steps into the surreal, a fitting choice for an artist whose imagination has never stopped at music.  “The world tells you, ‘You’re not a filmmaker. Between @HolHumberstone’s debut album, ‘Paint My Bedroom Black,’ and her recently released sophomore album, ‘Cruel World,’ a lot has shifted. “This past year and a half, I’ve rediscovered bits of me that used to be so integral to who I am,” the musician tells V. When it comes to songwriting, her creative world has expanded. For ‘Cruel World,’ Humberstone approached the process “with an open mind” and “learned to take it less seriously.” In shaping the visual aesthetic for the new album, Humberstone collaborated with her sister alongside Creative Director Silken Weinberg. “I wanted it to feel like this fantasy world inspired by everything that I used to love as a kid.” With performances at major festivals lined up this year, along with a North American tour, there seems to be no slowing down for Humberstone—and she prefers it that way.
