JMW Turner’s 1835 canvas "Rome, from Mount Aventine" will be auctioned at Sotheby’s Old Master Evening Sale in London on December 9, with an estimate of £50 million ($66.2 million). Ahead of the auction, it is on public view at Rome’s Palazzo Rondinini from September 29 to October 1.

The buyer of a formerly misattributed Rembrandt that hammered for $9 million at a Sotheby’s London sale in December 2025 has been revealed to be the world’s largest collector of the artist. Thomas Kaplan, an American businessman and philanthropist, purchased the work for his Leiden Collection.

For the fourth year running, the Switzerland-based MCH Group, the parent company of the Art Basel fair, recorded an increase in revenue and profit in the first half of 2026. The company’s net profits also quadrupled from CHF 4.4 million ($5.3 million) last year to CHF 18.4 million ($22.1 million).
