The Financial Services AI Adoption Plan, published yesterday by Chancellor @RachelReevesMP, gets something right that too many AI strategies miss: skills sits as one of five priority themes, sitting alongside regulation, sovereignty and resilience💡

The plan is clear that this isn't just about engineers and data scientists. It's risk managers, legal teams, boards and frontline staff who need to use and govern AI responsibly. That's the harder problem, and the right one to prioritise. It's also the one we'd underline.

The technology is working. The adoption isn't, not evenly, and not yet at the pace the sector needs. Building capability at every level of an organisation is what turns AI investment into AI outcomes🎯 Skills are rightly a priority. Delivery is what comes next.

Alan Johnson just dropped the essential question in the FT: “Why is it that when work now continues well beyond 60, training basically stops at 30?” 🎯 The answer is costing your business its competitive edge. ft.com/content/460bb4f0-5782… 1/3

We’re systematically starving the workforce of the skills needed to solve the productivity problem. With four in five of the 2035 workforce already on today's payroll, we can’t afford to let training be seen as a "disposable luxury". 2/3

"Training isn't a luxury. It's fundamental." - Alan Johnson, former Education Secretary, in a new @LearnWorkUK report. 📈In-work training boosts pay 15% (to £3,400/mo), but wage growth can "evaporate" by 40 without it. More on mid-career upskilling > learningandwork.org.uk/resou…

It's not just about pay. It's about job mobility. The report finds too many workers are stuck in a "doom loop" of low pay > no training > low pay. A key reason? UK firms spend half the EU average on training. learningandwork.org.uk/resou… @LearnWorkUK #getthenationlearning

This is an economic own-goal. By 2035, 2.5 million more high-skill jobs will be created. We need talent to fill them. Our CEO Euan Blair: "With AI reinventing what work looks like, we have...a real opportunity to unlock latent potential and reskill people into growth areas."
