Mark's take: AI moves fast, and the network needs to keep up. @Verizon’s webinar showed how Adaptive Network Fabric lets businesses adjust bandwidth on demand and manage connections through a self-service portal. Flexible billing and private connections matter when AI workloads push capacity needs up and down. For IT leaders, it’s a practical shift toward more control over network costs and faster responses to changing demand. #VerizonBusiness #AdaptiveNetworkFabric #AI #EnterpriseNetworking #SmartTechResearch @BrettBFaulk

Mark's take: This compelling @Adobe webinar drives home the point that your next customer could choose your competitor without ever visiting your website. Adobe’s webinar makes the stakes clear: your brand needs to show up in AI answers, where buying decisions are already taking shape. With Adobe Brand Visibility, the company is connecting what AI says about your business to fixes in your content and ways to measure the results. The critical question for marketers: are you building a brand that AI can understand and recommend, or publishing content that gets ignored? Watch the webinar through the infographic’s QR code, because yesterday’s search playbook won’t carry your brand forever. #Adobe #AI #BrandStrategy #AEO #DigitalMarketing #SmartTechResearch @BrettBFaulk #DaniHunter #ElliottWiener #EricMatisoff #LoniStark

Mark's take: @Adobe just swallowed @topazlabs whole, and if you thought they were going to sit back and watch niche AI upscalers eat their lunch, think again. adobe.ly/4AA7gbf By bolting Topaz’s heavy-hitting restoration models and on-device Neurostream tech straight into Premiere and Firefly, Adobe is ruthlessly eliminating the fragmented patchwork workflows video pros have tolerated for years. From a go-to-market perspective, this masterstroke slashes crushing cloud-compute costs through local client-side processing while tightening Adobe’s enterprise chokehold across the entire content supply chain. Your cobbled-together creative stack is officially on life support, and Adobe just made damn sure you never have a reason to leave their walled garden. #Adobe #TopazLabs #AdobeFirefly #GenerativeAI #VideoEditing #PostProduction #CreatorEconomy #TechNews @BrettBFaulk #DaniHunter

I've delivered four AI sessions up and down the country this week, and one line on one slide has landed every single time. "Don't send me something that will take me longer to read than it took you to create." Different audiences, different rooms, same reaction. A laugh, then a pause, because everyone's either sent that email or received it. AI hasn't made writing easier. It's made producing volume easier, and those aren't the same thing. The gap between them is where trust quietly erodes, one unread report and one skimmed update at a time. If it took you thirty seconds to generate, don't expect someone else to give it three minutes.

I am profoundly sad to hear of Ben Rosen’s passing, a man who played a key role in the evolution of the PC industry. I met him only twice, both briefly during product demos in my decade at Compaq, but his influence on the company and the wider industry was clear. His backing of Compaq and Lotus helped bring personal computers into everyday business use. My Compaq friend Sean Burke knew Ben very well, and he’ll have more to say about his time working with him. #BenRosen #Compaq #Lotus #PCHistory @BrettBFaulk #SusanVinci #RodCanion #RossCooley #ChrisCooley #SeanBurke @WSJ

Building Resilient Automation: The 8 C’s of Data Quality I'm presenting at this BrightTALK session on Sep 29 2026, 1:00pm BST Automation initiatives often fail not because of technology, but due to unreliable data. Missing fields, inconsistent definitions and outdated spreadsheets create cracks in operational processes, leading to failed workflows and costly disruptions. For IT Operations, these issues mean constant firefighting instead of driving innovation, leaving businesses exposed to inefficiencies and risks. Building resilient automation systems requires more than just advanced tools. It demands a strong data foundation. Poor data quality undermines automation efforts, creating brittle systems that can’t adapt to real-world complexities. For business leaders, this challenge also presents an opportunity: by addressing data quality issues early, organizations can unlock the full potential of intelligent automation, reduce risks and drive sustainable growth. Join me to explore how the "8 C’s of Data Quality" can help you future-proof your automation strategies. Key Takeaways: - Identify the hidden risks poor data quality poses to automation and AIOps initiatives. - Learn how to spot and address common failure points in your data foundation. - Discover actionable strategies to build resilient, scalable automation systems - Explore how IT leaders can turn data quality challenges into business opportunities. - Gain insights into real-world examples of successful automation transformations You can sign up here: lnkd.in/eUSkKeKk

Ben Rosen is a name I expect not many people know. He was instrumental in the early personal computer revolution and a foundational figure in modern tech venture capital. His influence spans key eras of Silicon Valley and the broader technology ecosystem. Ben Rosen is best known as the founding chairman of Compaq Computer Corporation, a role he held for 18 years (1981–1999). This is how/where I became aware of him. @MarkVenaTechGuy, thanks for your thoughtful post about a legendary man in our industry.

Mark's take: It's a little “inside baseball,” but this matters: Qualcomm and Apple have renewed their global patent license agreement, effective April 1, 2027. My take: Qualcomm preserves an important licensing relationship and reinforces the value of its intellectual property. Apple gains continuity in patent access as it pursues its own silicon strategy. Designing your own chips doesn’t make other companies’ patents disappear. This is a patent licensing renewal, not an announcement of new modem purchases. Financial terms and the agreement’s duration weren’t disclosed. Yes, it's a "quiet" announcement, but it has significant business implications for both companies. prn.to/4AyKKiY @Qualcomm @Apple #PatentLicensing #Semiconductors #WirelessTechnology #SmartTechCheck @BrettBFaulk
