This Islamophobia Awareness Month, we must shine a light on the abhorrent hatred and discrimination Muslims continue to face. In the last year alone, religious hate crimes targeting Muslims rose by 15% in England and Wales. This is utterly unacceptable. London will always stand against hatred, prejudice and discrimination.

Let me be absolutely clear: anyone who targets Londoners because of their faith will be held to account. I'll continue working with the Met Police and partners to tackle faith-based hate crime, such as Islamophobia, protect our communities and ensure there is zero tolerance for this kind of prejudice in our city.
Community note
bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan… 4 men were recorded chanting antisemitic slurs threatening murder and rape. The vehicle was tracked and the occupants arrested. Despite all of the evidence, the case was dropped by the CPS. They targeted Londoners based on their faith. They were not held to account.

It was a pleasure to join the UK-India Creative Circle's Diwali celebration last night. Events like this showcase the power of culture to bring people together, strengthen ties between the UK and India, and create opportunities for collaboration across business and the creative industries.

London is leading the way on fair pay. The increase in the London Living Wage will support thousands more Londoners as the cost of living rises. I’m incredibly proud that over 4,000 employers are already signed up. standard.co.uk/news/london/r…

A welcome step from the PM. The Transatlantic Slave Trade was one of history’s most heinous crimes. We must be honest about how the horrors of our past have shaped the present - because only then can we begin to build a fairer future for everyone. theguardian.com/world/2026/o…

A standing ovation for 50 years of the National Theatre. It has challenged us, moved us, made us laugh, and brought millions together through the power of storytelling. An honour to join its anniversary celebrations on the South Bank.

Behind every poppy is a story of service, sacrifice and support. As London Poppy Day marks its 20th anniversary, we're reminded of the difference the Royal British Legion makes to veterans, serving personnel and their families.

London's Turkish community helps power our economy, enrich our culture and strengthen neighbourhoods across the capital. Ahead of my visit to Türkiye next month, it was great to celebrate those contributions with Turkish Londoners at Antepliler.

This is just the start. Yesterday's Budget marked a devolution revolution for London. The new powers agreed with the government will help us invest more in transport and housing, supporting growth and unlocking opportunities right across our city.
