Germany’s Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state is building a large-scale drone detection network along its Baltic Sea coast, with around 150 passive radio sensors providing real-time tracking of drones, SZ reports.
The network will focus on ports, energy infrastructure, and military sites, including areas around the Lubmin nuclear storage facility, Sassnitz LNG terminal, and Baltic 1 offshore wind farm, which have previously experienced drone overflights.
Authorities expect the system to detect around 90% of drones, with real-time data available by spring. The sensors will be used solely for detection rather than actively disabling drones.
