Billionaire-backed C40 Cities promotes sweeping Net Zero policies through city mayors, including measures to reduce private car use. Their influence reaches beyond member cities as policies spread from one authority to another. As Mayor of Greater Manchester, @AndyBurnham signed a major C40 transport declaration. Scrapping the national digital ID proposal was a huge victory – but, as we warned, the infrastructure that could create digital ID "by the back door" is still being developed. One Login, the GOV UK App and Wallet, digital credentials, online age checks and facial recognition must not be allowed to grow into a network of digital checkpoints across everyday life. @andyburnham - freeze One Login now. There should be no further expansion until it has been independently reviewed, Parliament has properly scrutinised what has been built and how secure it is, and the law guarantees that nobody can be forced or financially pressured into using it. If One Login cannot meet those tests, its future should be reconsidered. The public rightly rejected national Digital ID. The Government must respect the substance of that - not just abandon the name while continuing to build very similar machinery @uklabour

Online bank Revolut handed customers’ passports, verification selfies and financial histories to criminals who posed as government officials. The information disclosed may have included names, dates of birth, home addresses, identity documents, account statements, withdrawal records and complete Bitcoin transaction histories. Around 680 customer accounts are now understood to have been affected. Revolut says its systems were not hacked - that's right, they didn't need to be, because Revolut handed the information over! This is what can happen when ever more of our sensitive information is collected, connected and made available through digital systems.
