Minnesota will pay you up to $400 to turn your lawn into wildflowers.
The program is called Lawns to Legumes. Since 2019, Minnesotans have used it to plant more than 12,500 patches of native flowers, clover and pollinator habitat. That's over 20 million square feet, in every one of the state's 87 counties.
It's built for pollinators in trouble, like monarchs and the rusty patched bumble bee. That's Minnesota's state bee, and it's federally endangered.
Renters can apply too, not just homeowners.
And people want in. The first time around, more than 12,000 Minnesotans applied for about 2,300 grants.
Applications for spring 2027 are open now through November 30. If you live in Minnesota, apply.
