🚨 From the official OECD report on Long Covid. Just devastating: "Lastly, the estimates in this report probably understate the true burden of long COVID. The condition is likely to have wide-reaching consequences that are not yet fully understood. Beyond the core symptoms of long COVID, infection with SARS-CoV-2 increases the risk of developing a range of chronic conditions including cardiovascular conditions, diabetes, neurological impairments and autoimmune disorders which will add further pressure on health systems and increase costs in the years ahead. These effects may take considerable time to become fully visible. In addition, long COVID may affect children's development and educational attainment - factors not yet captured in current economic projections."

As far as I'm concerned, those chronic conditions they list *are* (part of) LongCovid. Medics have been ignoring the full consequences of (all) infections for far too long.

Given the priority given to the money in a late capitalist world 1-2% GDP(they admit it's a conservative estimate) will sound alarm bells in a way that mass disablement & ruining the quality of real people's lives didn't. The world is in a dark place

Not surprised as the response from some is that it’s ‘nothing new.’

But GOP want to stop non millionaires from having healthcare. “A sick & dying population is easier to control”

Sadly this won't surprise any of us working in clinics. Cardiovascular, neurological, autoimmune... we'll be dealing with the fallout for years.
