The left’s new talking points—- “Crime was already trending down. Trump didn’t do anything.” “It was local law enforcement that reduced crime not Trump.” “Studies show National Guard had no impact on crime.” Statements 1 & 2 are both true & false. And 3 is just false. What’s True: Crime had mostly been trending lower since 2023 but, modestly by a couple percentage points but not by the massive drop seen in 2025. In Memphis crime had been declining in 2024 & 2025 prior to Trump’s EO in Sept 2025. Crime however was not tracking drastically down toward the -36% reduction in crime and -35% reduction in homicides seen year to date in 2026. It was absolutely local law enforcement responsible but, not solely. The only “study” on the national guard’s impact on crime is by a Progressive, Biden official-laced, think tank— whose methodology is totally flawed. What Trump Admin did to reduce crime: 1. Made significant federal resources available to local law enforcement nationwide. Example— Trump authorized the Memphis Safe Task Force made up of Memphis PD, State PD, US Marshalls, FBI, ATF, DEA, HSI & the National Guard. Those federal resources are a huge help to local law enforcement. Memphis PD gives the task force and federal resources a lot of credit for helping them bring crime down so massively. It’s not all local or all federal. Local Leos do most of the work but, federal resources are huge in determining what they can and cannot do with a finite department budget. Give them more to work with and they can accomplish more. 2. Deployed National Guard Troops The National Guard troops aren’t carrying out arrests in Memphis, but they are a presence on the street in high crime areas, that local PD lacks the manpower to do themself. Many studies have shown that visible police presence on the streets reduces crime in those areas. The guard’s presence on the street stops some crime like theft but it also pushes other crime into the shadows so residents can safely use the streets again. A drug sale may still occur but, moving it from open air on the street corner into the shadows somewhere else has major quality of life implications. Kids can play outside. Parks are no longer open air drug markets. That benefit is real as so many Memphis residents reported. 3. FBI refocused & revamped. A. The FBI was refocused on the mission of crime fighting. B. 60% of the FBI was based in DC. Patel changed that. He took a significant portion of the excess agents based in DC & deployed them to field offices throughout the country. “Crime doesn’t just happen in DC, it happens everywhere. So we need to be everywhere too.” C. FBI created tons of task forces. They changed protocols, making it easier to set up task forces where local agencies send their officers to DC to work with them collaboratively & for FBI to send agents to work on them locally. Local/FBI collaboration via task forces has been hugely successful. D. Major nationwide operations. Kash Patel wanted the FBI to focus on several major issues. A major nationwide operation has been to find missing & exploited children, stop human trafficking & arrest traffickers & predators. It’d been very successful in children recovered & offenders arrested. Another very successful national operation has been fighting gov fraud. The FBI in 18mos has arrested all 10 of the FBI’s 10 most wanted and 9 of the FBI’s 10 most wanted fraudsters. 8 of which have been arrested abroad. Plus 1100 thwarted terrorist plots. 4. Named transnational gangs (like TdA) FTOs. The Patriot Act gives the federal government a lot more tools to deal with terrorists. So by designating TdA and MS13 and the Sinaloa Cartel etc as Foreign Terrorist Orgs, the feds can pick them up for state to deport under the Patriot Act. I can tell you in Colorado getting TdA out has had a huge impact. 5. Deported Criminals unlawfully present 6. Closed Southern Border.

It doesn’t, that’s why personal firearm ownership should be outright banned. Since we can’t do that, I’m okay with it being heavily restricted with as many cumbersome and expensive regulations as possible to discourage people from buying and keeping firearms
