“At the Reformation, the Church of England became protestant in order to become more truly and perfectly Catholic.” —William van Mildert (Bishop of Durham, 1826–36)

And it only went in the post-Vatican II era. Within living memory Anglo-Catholic clergy were writing treatises on the Articles. A liturgical and doctrinal Anglican 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘤𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 is long overdue.

The Tractarians went to great (some might say “creative”) lengths to show that their teaching was consistent with the Articles and the Books of Homilies — that project seems to have been largely abandoned within contemporary Anglo-Catholicism but it needs recovering.
Please pray today for the continuing witness of the 39 Articles. For the Church of England to uphold them and ensure that they are taught and valued.

The Orangemen can't walk down the road but we can all have a rousing chorus of ‘My Old Man's a Provo’? So much for No Going Back…
This is very unhelpful I am sure, to the Garvaghy Road residents. Why is nobody telling these people to clear off? My Old Man's a Provo....

As there's a Pope Car, does it follow that there are Orange Cars?

This article, like The God Delusion, isn't funny, not because Dawkins is shrill or strident but because he doesn't actually know what he's talking about well enough to make jokes that actually land with his target audience.

This straightforward misunderstanding of what is meant by Divine Simplicity (God's essence is his attributes: he isn't good, loving, powerful; he is goodness, love, power) is a case in point.

Folks, I can't believe what I'm telling you, but our sources are saying that not only are his mercies new, as forecasted, but that he also delights to show mercy.
It appears his mercies are new this morning. Reliable sources report they were new yesterday morning and are forecasted to be new tomorrow morning as well. Truly remarkable stuff going on here.

Replying to @CyrilDash
The Articles are agreeable to the Word of God and every member of the CofE should be able to assent to them — as we article the catholic faith of the Church of England we shouldn't need to shoehorn them in.

Manchester City should be relegated to the 4th tier, as happened to Rangers in 2012 (over less money). British football clubs should not be used for sportswashing and their ownership by foreign states should be banned.
Horrendous statement from UK prime minister Andy Burnham on Manchester City’s Abu Dhabi ownership. 1) As PM he should remain entirely neutral. 2) ‘I can’t intervene *more*’ suggests he already has. 3) ‘The detail’ may demonstrate that losing them would be for the best.

I wonder in how many churches it is possible to while away a sermon by reading BOTH Wesley's instructions for congregational singing in ‘Christian Hymns’ AND the 39 Articles at the back of the Book of Common Prayer.

What happened shouldn't have happened, those who broke the law should face the consequences inc. the First Minister, but I don't see what's gained from this stand-off.

Community note
Labour are not cutting pensions, they are reforming the triple lock. Pensions will still rise every year, either at 2.5% or in line with inflation. Whichever is higher. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

You can it's Church of England professional training because there are adult colouring books available at the back. Somehow I imagine the British Association of Dangerous Goods Professionals, who are also using the conference centre, don't have this available.
