Sometimes they just train an expert that is a little too committed to its job. 😄 What caught my attention about the next-generation Franka Dataset being developed by @axisrobotics is not only the trajectory count, but the task diversity: 📦 1.2 million trajectories 🧩 1,200 different tasks 🦾 Broader atomic skill coverage A million repetitions can give a robot muscle memory. 1,200 different tasks give it a skill vocabulary. Because atomic skills such as reaching, grasping, rotating, or placing are not limited to a single task. As the model learns these small pieces, it can recombine them for more complex jobs. Just like forming different sentences with the same words. 🧠 The Franka dataset family reaching 160K+ downloads is the other half of the story. The data no longer stays only inside #Axis’ own loop. Universities and companies are using it in World Model, WAM, and VLA research. 🔄 So Axis is not merely building a larger data repository. It is growing a shared skill library where others can also teach robots to form new sentences. 📚 The general-purpose robots of the future will need not only strong arms, but also a broad vocabulary.
