Never a fan of anybody losing a job to injury, unless the other guy proves he’s an obvious upgrade. That has NOT happened.
Nobody has proven to be a better option at RT than Phillip. And by “option,” I mean consistently demonstrating the skill set required to do the job.
Playing RT and BEING a RT aren’t close to the same. The guy PLAYING RT, low ceiling in BIG moments. The guy that IS at RT, high ceiling in BIG moments (Texas).
He played solid ball against Texas. He was hands down the best option for that game, that moment. But is he absolved from scrutiny, hell no.
Kent State? That’s a wash. Nobody is being evaluated against Kent State.
Phillip should keep the job until he LOSES it. #GoBucks 🌰
If the Siereveld and VanSickle RT/RG combo looks good again for a 2nd week in a row, my guess is Phil Daniels will have lost his starting RT job

A DL should never feel this comfortable talking to five 300+ lb men like this.
We’ve coached too much of the violence and mentality out of OL play and replaced it with nonsense like “the double under.” 😒

I was thinking the same thing when I watched film back today. Focus more on gap scheme concepts in the run game. Zone is there though! There’s little things they can clean up too. We’re getting there. I can’t wait til it finally gels! This rushing attack is fun.
