OK - we are on. Tomorrow Cricket Australia will confirm it intends to privatise the BBL and will forge on despite opposition from at least NSW.
The self-determination model will allow states to choose whether franchises are put up for sale.
How CA wins the Australian Cricketers' Association over remains to be seen, but they will use high profile players to make the announcement tomorrow in Sydney (of all places, given NSW's opposition)

In a late bid to get QLD, SA & NSW on board, CA proposed a 50% cut to the tax. That won't be enough for at least NSW and QLD to agree to the privatisation model.
States would only be required to pay the eight figure tax sum IF they don't put a franchise up for sale in the initial block, but do so down the track.
There is a strong view among states that CA is trying to divide the playing group into two in a bid to bulldoze their plan through: The stars (who are for privatisation) and the lesser players (who would not benefit as much as Head, Cummins and co and would hold the firm ACA line).
CA would say they don't need to try to divide, that there is already a split among them. Huge day tomorrow as all of this comes to a head.
