I wonder what it is about modern attempts at giving classic heroes new villains that always feels kind of off? They never seem to really fit in with the other villains the one example I can think of that felt sort of natural was ghost maker from the Batman comics

It's always funny that people's idealistic anakin fan fiction always has padme at his side ruling his facistic empire as if she would ever follow him down that path.
