On this day in 1966, the Beatles played their final ticketed concert at Candlestick Park in San Francisco 🎙️🎸
John, Paul, George and Ringo performed an 11-song set that opened with “Rock and Roll Music” and ended with “Long Tall Sally”. Knowing that their touring years were drawing to a close, the group took cameras onto the stage, while Paul asked press officer Tony Barrow to make a recording of the performance. John famously took a selfie to commemorate their last ever performance in front of a paying crowd 📷
The Beatles returned to live performance for their rooftop concert in 1969, but they would never again play a scheduled public concert together, although the end of their touring era opened the door for more experimentation in the studio ✨
