I hate this talking point so much. Maybe it's the geography nerd in me. I don't know... but this one really grates on my nerves.
Israel's location on the far Western edge of the Levant is of no strategic value or advantage to America re our presence and relationships in the Middle East. They have no excess abundance in natural resources, no important waterways or control/influence over strategic trade routes.
In the early days of the Cold War there was a weak but at least somewhat articulable argument to be made in terms of combating communism by promoting democracy in the region... but all that flew out the window with their total military occupation of the West Bank post-1967.
Israel's complete inability to exist peacefully with its neighbors, its refusal to end the occupation of Palestine and its status as a bitter, ungrateful welfare queen forever sucking on the American taxpayer teat makes it a toxic net-negative in foreign relations terms.
Also, Israel is strategic ally in the region. Folks so cuddled in the society we have here, can’t begin the threats that we have outside of their bubble.

Fox News: The United States is deploying the USS Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group and the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit to the Middle East, adding approximately 10,000 sailors and Marines to the region by the end of November.
The USS Theodore Roosevelt will join the USS George H.W. Bush and USS George Washington, increasing the U.S. aircraft carrier presence in the region to three as President Trump considers expanding military strikes against Iran following the midterm elections.
