By my count I read about 50 books in 2024, plus several pamphlets and journals. Here are the 15 best (because I couldn't limit it to 10), in the order I read them. 1. Stalin, Problems of Leninism. A 642-page collection of his writings from 1924-1939. Outstanding and essential.

Every day on bourgeois/capitalist TV news: "Product x, y, or z is increasingly expensive/unaffordable, and there's nothing you can do about it, just suck it up."

A couple of very active but also I think ambitious young people I regularly have to deal with never leave me a message on the phone or send me a text message when they want something from me. They just phone me and hang up when I don't answer. Is this a generational thing,

or, as I suspect, is it that they're covering their asses, trying to never leave a record when it doesn't suit them?

Sometimes it seems that the only content of bourgeois Canadian politics is: using Canadian jobs to defend US profits.

A difference between the US and Canada: in the US, the gang rapists are in college fraternities; in Canada, the gang rapists are in junior hockey leagues.

In my lifetime, no fringe political movement has received more attention/promotion in the mainstream media than Alberta separatism currently.

Even the separatists now are saying that Alberta separatism is more than anything else a tactic to get the rest of Canada to give "Alberta" what it wants, above all to extract and sell more oil and gas from Alberta, which means above all to extract more profits from Alberta

Grown adults on CBC Radio talking about Green Lanterns. Embarrassing. But, then, is it really any different from the way they talk about politics?

Yeah, where are all the righteous Christians opposing the stupendous rise of gambling in our society? Too busy opposing transgender youth?
"Gambling is morally wrong. Gambling is built on the desire to obtain something for nothing. Its structure requires that any gain comes at other's expense. It is hard to reconcile that with the commandment to love our neighbor as ourselves." —President D. Todd Christofferson (@ChristoffDTodd) #GeneralConference churchofjesuschrist.org/lear…

I never paid any attention to Joe Rogan. I don't listen to podcasts, and don't watch Ultimate Fighting. But, reading his Wikipedia entry, it's pretty obvious that he was promoted by Hollywood and therefore the ruling class as "blue-collar guy", "working-class guy", "regular joe".

An example of how the ruling class, through Hollywood, through the monopoly-capitalist media, manufactures working-class identity.

Stelco, Stellantis,... Gee, I'm starting to wonder if maybe giving large subsidies to big foreign/US monopoly-capitalists to operate in Canada isn't working. I know! Let's give them even more subsidies, reduce taxes, labor and environmental regulations for them! That'll work!
