The signal-to-noise ratio of commentary around this Trump-Xi summit is out of control. Very little has changed in the bilateral relationship since May, and there is little structural pressure to produce a major “deliverable,” as the two will likely meet twice more this year.

"Despite how the risks of AI have grabbed attention in recent weeks, there are few signs that the two countries’ positions have significantly shifted, said Ryan Fedasiuk, a fellow at @AEI. 'The bottom line is there is no mutual trust,' said Fedasiuk. 'No grand bargain. No agreements to limit either side’s capability development.'"
