AFRODAD is contributing to the Zimbabwe Debt Consultative Group (DCG) Structured Dialogue Platform on Arrears Clearance and Debt Resolution, convened by the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion. Our Executive Director, Janet Zhou (@JayNotes), and Mitchell Jonathan, our policy intern are representing AFRODAD. The DCG sits under the Structured Dialogue Platform (SDP) framework of Zimbabwe's Arrears Clearance and Debt Resolution (ACDR) Process. It is designed as an open, credible and transparent platform for information sharing and cooperation among Government, creditors, development partners and stakeholders supporting the implementation of the ACDR Roadmap and the process of arrears clearance and debt restructuring. For AFRODAD, this is familiar ground. For 3 decades we have argued that debt decisions must be made in the open, with the people who bear their cost in the room. That is the case we make through the African Borrowing Charter, the Harare Declaration, the Maputo Manifesto and our push for a UN Framework Convention on Sovereign Debt, and the African Common Position on Debt (CAP). Responsible borrowing and lending, debt transparency, and citizen participation are not add-ons to a debt resolution process they are what makes one credible. #AfricaEconomicJustice #CAPonDEBT
