Our climate is changing and the Government has one message: Britain is stepping up. Cleaner energy. Lower bills. More jobs. Protecting nature.

I do enjoy hearing from fossil fuel fanatics who think Rosebank and Jackdaw will fix the public finances. In fact total tax revenue from the North Sea in the last 3 years has been less than half Government spending on protecting energy consumers the last time gas prices spiked.

BBC reports that Ineos is pausing production at its three plants in Hull, blaming high UK gas prices "If the goal is greater energy security and more stable bills, then the obvious solution is reducing our exposure to gas altogether where we can through renewables and electrification. Keep this stat in mind over the coming months: HALF of all British recessions since 1970 have been caused by fossil fuel energy price shocks. Why do we persist with this stuff when we should moving away from fossil fuels as quickly as possible? Common sense.
