Now THIS is a trend we can get behind! If a worker drives and Amazon-branded van, wears an Amazon-branded vest, and follows a route determined by Amazon, they should be treated as an employee. Calling them sub-contractors just makes it easier for Amazon to exploit them.

Amazon's response to a New York City bill that could protect Amazon drivers is to threaten the city with the prospect of jobs loss and slower, more expensive deliveries. The trillion dollar company says the proposal from the city council and Zohran Mamdani could put over 5,000 delivery jobs at risk, a thinly veiled threat that Amazon will respond to attempts to protect delivery drivers by cutting jobs.
