Two years in the making, this chapter reflects something we have cared about from the very beginning of our fellowship: supporting education across the division, including for our APP colleagues. From welcoming APPs into our didactics to having our fellows speak at dedicated APP learning sessions, our fellows have consistently demonstrated that education is a responsibility shared by the entire healthcare team. Seeing that commitment embraced by our fellows has been one of the most gratifying parts of building this program. And how fitting that this chapter comes full circle just as @AMohammedMD graduates from advanced fellowship & joins us as an attending and colleague. Watching that evolution - from fellow, to co-author, to colleague - makes this project even more special. A sincere thank you to the editors @SamAtallahMD for the opportunity to contribute a chapter on “Endoscopic Therapies for Surgical Conditions”. Saturday night at @DDWMeeting our group went to dinner. More and more people kept walking into the room, faculty, fellows, residents, mentors, collaborators, friends. And at one point I looked around and had one of those quiet full circle moments. Not because success suddenly appeared overnight. Many people in this group have been putting in the work for years. Building programs. Publishing. Teaching. Leading. Showing up again and again. But this year, seeing everyone together, you could feel the momentum. And no better ending to @DDWMeeting than @MahamHayatMD bringing home the @ASGEendoscopy World Cup. An absolutely incredible accomplishment and the perfect representation of talent, work ethic, and excellence. She quietly continues to raise the bar for herself and everyone around her. But what do we actually do about it? Some of the most practical takeaways I heard in @KanwalFasiha talk: 🔹 Define your niche- deliberately Your niche is not just your research topic. If people hear your name, what do they associate you with? 🔹 Find a sponsor, not just a mentor Mentors guide you. They’re the ocean - broad, steady, essential. Sponsors move you. Your sponsor is your whale (see pic, it’ll make sense) 🔹 Be strategic with your yes and your no. Not every opportunity is an opportunity. 3 actions: • Define your niche in one sentence • Identify one potential sponsor this month • Audit your commitments and start saying no with intention Careers don’t just evolve. They’re designed. And if we want different outcomes, we have to be intentional about how we build them. @DDWMeeting #DDW2026

The newly published edition of Waye's Colonoscopy: Principles and Practice continues a long-standing tradition in colonoscopy education. @AimenKhanMD co-authored the chapter on acute colonic pseudo-obstruction - a proud example of the scholarly contributions our fellows continue to make to the field. ACPO may be uncommon, but it is an important diagnosis to recognize early and a reminder that great training is about judgment and clinical reasoning, not just technical skill. Medical education has been the heartbeat of my career since 2015. I am excited to announce a new chapter as Associate Designated Institutional Officer (ADIO) for GME within the AdventHealth Central Florida Division. In this role, I will provide strategic oversight & leadership for some of our residency & fellowship programs to ensure we continue to meet the highest educational standards.
