Yes. Exactly this. A news story says that loads of people are off sick with covid, or a hospital ward has been shut down, or that people are dying from Covid, and some talking head pops up and says don't worry we're all immune. IF WE'RE ALL IMMUNE WHY IS THERE A COVID WAVE.
There’s No Need To Worry About Hospitals Closed By This Covid Wave Because Everyone Is Immune To Covid Now

It's been three years of documenting slaughter. You may notice less media coverage from Palestine, because in Gaza journalists have been slaughtered en masse, and in the West Bank we're being put in torture chambers and threatened systemically by Israel (both military & police, and settlers). But the real thing is that enough has been covered, what's missing is not news, it's the insistence of the world that we keep providing documentation while it refuses to provide accountability. What this has done is create a vacuum where we are drained, depleted, and forced to risk our lives, while Israeli colonial and genocidal violence is sustained and excused.

Israel is using today as a propaganda opportunity, so it’s essential we set the record straight. It’s undeniable that Netanyahu knew October 7 was coming. This has been confirmed by Israeli military probes, leaked intelligence, and reporting by outlets including The New York Times, Haaretz, The Times of Israel, The Guardian, the BBC, The Atlantic, and The Wall Street Journal. Israeli military intelligence obtained a detailed Hamas blueprint codenamed “Jericho Wall”, over a year before the attack. It described breaching the border fence at multiple points, overrunning bases and communities, and taking hostages. Israeli leaks later confirmed that Israel had other versions of the plan circulating since 2018. An Israeli officer in Unit 8200 wrote multiple assessments of Hamas drills on simulated IDF outposts. She noted that senior Hamas commanders were observing the drills, the plan was operational, and Israel will likely not get a long warning. Israeli military intelligence sent Netanyahu several letters between March and July 2023, warning him of the dangers. On top of that, multiple foreign countries warned him—and Mr Security failed to act. UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed warned Netanyahu in late September 2023 that Yahya Sinwar was planning a major operation. Netanyahu later tried to pressure the UAE into saying that no such warning had been given. Egyptian authorities warned Israel “something big was coming” just three days before the attack. Despite these warnings, Israeli authorities ignored key signs of an attack on October 6 and 7, including the activation of sim cards and unusual rocket movements. No one raised the alert or attempted to raise security along the border. Military and intelligence chiefs have publicly accepted responsibility for the failure. Netanyahu has not. Roughly half of the 1,500 troops assigned to the area were away on the morning. Despite this vulnerability, and the detailed warnings, the Nova Festival was not only allowed to go ahead, it was given a one-day extension. That extension made it run into October 7. Officers in the Gaza Division had initially opposed the extension, due to the lack of security, and they were overruled. As a result, 364 festival goers were killed and dozens were abducted. It took Israeli forces three and a half hours to respond and they were not directed to the worst hit areas. It took them nearly six hours to reach Nir Oz (after the attackers had already left), nearly six hours to reach Kfar Aza and Sufa, seven hours to reach Nahal Oz, and seven hours to reach Be’eri. Remember Israel is a small place. When the troops finally arrived, they responded with the Hannibal Directive which involved using force to stop Israelis being taken hostage, even if it meant killing them. Huge numbers of buildings and vehicles were destroyed that day—something Hamas did not have the firepower to achieve. Hannibal orders were given at multiple sites—the Erez crossing, Re’im base, the Gaza Division headquarters, and the Nahal Oz outpost. At 11:22am, a broader order went out on the division network: “Not a single vehicle can return to Gaza.” Units were later told to stop returns to Gaza “at all costs”. A Southern Command source told Haaretz that everyone knew the vehicles could be carrying kidnapped civilians or soldiers, and could not tell who was inside. A house was destroyed by an Israeli tank, even though it contained 14 hostages. Most of them died. On the evening of October 7, Qatar’s prime minister called the Mossad chief. He said Hamas was ready to release all civilian hostages in exchange for the IDF not entering the strip. Israel rejected the offer and continued to refuse one hostage deal after another, much to the dismay of the families. This led to many avoidable hostage deaths which were caused by Israel’s own bombs. For the longest time, we were told “release the hostages” and this all stops, but the moment the last hostage was freed, the genocide did not stop. The slogan changed from “release the hostages” to “fuck around and find out” because the violence was never about the hostages. When Israel tells you that October 7 was an atrocity carried out by Hamas, it’s omitting that Netanyahu funnelled $1 billion to Hamas because he wanted this moment. He wanted the excuse to decimate Gaza and push ahead with the Greater Israel project. Zionists are now bragging about how October 7 accelerated their plans for Gaza by 20 years. Netanyahu was willing to kill his own people on October 7 as pretext for a genocide. That’s not only terrorism, it’s treason, and it’s yet another reason this man belongs behind bars.

Yesterday we lost Rital Haniyeh, just four days before her second birthday. Rital lived with her family in The Sameer Project’s Refaat Alareer Camp, where our medical team and physiotherapist cared for her. She was a fighter. In and out of hospitals more times than we could count, she kept fighting to stay with the people who loved her. After recurrent pneumonia and persistent fevers that would not come down despite treatment, Rital spent the last three days at Al Aqsa Hospital. Her condition continued to deteriorate until she passed away today. Ten months ago, Rital was supposed to leave Gaza for medical evacuation. At the last minute, the occupation denied her family’s exit. She deserved access to the care she needed. She deserved a second birthday. She deserved a future. Rital is the fourth child her family has lost. There are no words that can hold this much grief. The occupation continues to murder our children, including by denying them access to lifesaving care. May God have mercy on Rital, forgive her, and grant her a place in Paradise. May He give her family patience and strength. We have been involved in Rital’s care since she just and infant, and we will carry her memory with us. To God we belong, and to Him we shall return.

Colonizers have always portrayed resistance as terrorism, savagery, and barbarism. They love to play the victim of the so-called savagery of the colonized and use this perpetual victimhood to justify their genocidal actions.

There is a sentence that almost never appears in Western coverage: Under international law, a people under military occupation have the right to resist that occupation. This is not a controversial claim. It is in the United Nations Charter. It is in the Geneva Conventions. It has been affirmed repeatedly by the UN General Assembly, explicitly referring to "all available means, including armed struggle." It is the same principle invoked to describe French resistance to Nazi occupation as heroic rather than terrorist. It is so uncontroversial that it doesn't need to be stated when applied to almost any other occupied people in history. When applied to Palestinians, it disappears. Not because it became false. Because the people who control which sentences appear in the news made a decision about which populations are permitted to have legally recognized rights that are spoken aloud in prime time. That decision is political. The silence around it is also political. The pretense that both are journalistic is the lie inside the lie.

There is something profoundly disturbing about the wall-to-wall coverage of Israel's Oct 7th commemmorations. I mean, this is a brutal, racist, settler colony that has spent the last three years perpetrating one of the worst crimes in human history. Fuck it to hell and back.

They came back from Vietnam and made movies about it. Apocalypse Now. Full Metal Jacket. Platoon. The Deer Hunter. Born on the Fourth of July. Beautiful films. Serious films. Films about the trauma of American soldiers, the moral complexity of American soldiers, the broken psyches of American soldiers. How many major American films center the experience of the Vietnamese? How many Hollywood productions have you seen where the Vietnamese are the protagonists, the full human beings with names and families and inner lives, and the Americans are the faceless army descending from the sky? Think about that structure. Think about what it means when a country kills three million of your people, loses the war, goes home, and then spends the next fifty years producing prestige cinema about how hard the killing was for the killers. Vietnamese suffering as backdrop. American suffering as subject. Vietnamese bodies as set dressing. American guilt as narrative arc. They could not conquer Vietnam militarily. But they tried to conquer the story. They tried to make the war, in global cultural memory, fundamentally about them. Their boys. Their trauma. Their national reckoning. We are not your reckoning. We are not your backdrop. We won. We exist. We have our own story, and in our story, we are the ones who were here before you came and here after you left.

However, I’m not too convinced of this move to innocence and white ignorance when polls exist that show how genocidal Zionists are and when synagogues sell Palestinian land, not to mention three years of a live-streamed genocide.

Stop reducing settler colonialism to an identity. It’s a structure predicated on dispossession and erasure. The greatest beneficiaries of this structure may very well believe they’re not racist or supporting a genocidal project. This is how an epistemology of ignorance works.

As psychological torture, Israeli officers told Palestinian detainee Shadi Abu Sido from Gaza that his wife and children had been bombed and killed. He spent his detention believing his entire family was dead—only to be stunned upon his release to find them alive.

Amid all the hysteria, it is worth remembering that “Zionism is racism” was once an official UN General Assembly position. In 1975, Resolution 3379 determined that “Zionism is a form of racism and racial discrimination.” It was only repealed in 1991 after a major US campaign
