The most underrated game in College Football this weekend is in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Boise State vs. Western Michigan.
Two 2-1 teams. Two defending conference champions. And a game that could have a MASSIVE impact on who ultimately claims the Group of 6 spot in the College Football Playoff.
This is exactly the kind of game that makes College Football special.
Boise State has spent years as one of the faces of football outside the Power conferences. Western Michigan is trying to prove it belongs right alongside them. Both already have a loss, so Saturday could be crucial when the committee starts comparing G6 résumés later this season.
CFB fans also pushed hard to get College GameDay to Kalamazoo. Instead, ESPN chose #1 Texas at #14 Tennessee in Knoxville — GameDay’s 13th trip to Knoxville, compared with just one previous visit to Kalamazoo, back during Western Michigan’s undefeated 2016 season.
Texas/Tennessee is obviously a massive game.
But College GameDay is at its best when it takes the sport somewhere that doesn’t get the national spotlight every year.
Boise State. Western Michigan. Waldo Stadium. Two defending conference champs with legitimate Playoff implications.
GameDay may have passed on it…
But the Redzone Roadtrip didn’t. 👀
We’re heading to Kalamazoo this weekend to give one of the biggest games in the Group of 6 race the attention it deserves.
The Bronco Brawl. See you at Waldo. 🏈
