Enough founder success stories. Tell us what almost killed the company. At a recent event ARC co-hosted with @elephantsinc & @awscloud, we got founders and investors to talk candidly about the mistakes, wrong assumptions and near-death experiences that shaped how they build today. Four lessons for anyone building in Asia 👇

Yacht parties are so 2020. Not because they’re bad. But because nothing compounds afterwards. Since June, the ladies in ARC have been leading AI sessions for the collective. For Session 4, 12 ARC members came together to share what they’ve been building with AI. They demoed their projects, gave each other advice, and shared useful tools and resources to help everyone push their ideas further. Maybe it improves your daily workflow. Maybe it solves a problem for someone else. Maybe it becomes a product you keep building long after the session ends. That’s the kind of gathering we want more of at ARC: come together, build something, and help each other make it better. Then see where it compounds from there.

On the invitation we said the best conversations don't happen in conference rooms. More than 50 founders, builders and community members turned up one evening to test that, on a padel and pickleball court. Most of them had played only a handful of times, which meant they spent the evening being visibly bad at something in front of people they had only just met. It is much easier to like someone who has just missed the same shot you did. People walked out sweaty and were already arranging the next game between themselves. The evening worked because four companies each brought the thing they build. Every AI-built website is starting to look the same, and a lot of it is bordering on slop. The tools aren't the problem. Everyone is just accepting the first (or second) thing the AI gives them. On Wednesday, @undergroundergr, Creative Lead at @ARCdotXYZ, spent an hour teaching our members to differentiate themselves by building a scroll-animated personal site with AI. Everyone who attended left knowing how to build one themselves. Her line from the session: "The easy part is making the whole scrolling website. The hard part is thinking of the imagery." They all look the same because the build is close to free now. Choosing what goes into it isn't.
