This represents a significant milestone as ATFL marks its 40th anniversary.

The American Task Force on Lebanon’s (ATFL) Board of Advisors met with US officials and lawmakers in Washington, D.C. on Thursday to discuss critical issues facing Lebanon.
Discussions centered around a number of topics and issues, including the Trilateral Framework Agreement, US-Lebanon relations, political and economic reforms, the pilot zone plan, regional dynamics, Hezbollah disarmament efforts, and more. Having met with senior Lebanese political and security leaders during a recent trip to Lebanon in August, board members were able to provide US officials and a bipartisan set of congress members with critical insight and updates.
Board members began the day with a breakfast with US representatives Darin Lahood (R-IL) and Darrell Issa (R-CA). The board then held individual meetings with senators Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), Katie Britt (R-AL), Jack Reed (D-RI), and staff from the office of Elissa Slotkin (D-MI). The day concluded with a meeting with Jonathan Fischer, the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary and Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Diplomacy for the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs.

This week, the American Task Force on Lebanon (ATFL) is reflecting on 40 years of working to strengthen bilateral relations between the US and Lebanon. At this critical and difficult moment for both Lebanon and the wider Middle East, we believe this work is more crucial than ever.
On Wednesday evening, ATFL hosted a reception at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C. to provide staff, members and board members, NextGen leaders, friends and family the opportunity to gather ahead of this year’s annual dinner. Following the gathering, ATFL also hosted a private dinner for its board of advisors and special guests.
Amid the ongoing conflict in Lebanon, the 2026 annual dinner will hold a special meaning. It will offer not only the opportunity for community and leaders to gather, but also a time for reflection, solidarity, and continued commitment to a prosperous, sovereign, and stable future for Lebanon.
