Woman Found Dead Following Alleged Argument: Canelands – KZN A 24-year-old woman was found deceased with suspected strangulation marks in a room at an informal settlement in Canelands – KZN this morning (Saturday, 26/09/2026). Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance at approximately 03:32. Reaction Officers were dispatched and, on arrival, found her boyfriend seated in the room, crying. He appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. According to the boyfriend, the couple had been consuming alcohol at a local tavern when an argument occurred. He stated that they argued again after returning to his room, where she became weak and lay on the bed. The woman had marks on her neck, consistent with suspected strangulation, as well as marks on her breast. RUSA Paramedics assessed her and confirmed that she was deceased. The South African Police Service (SAPS) are investigating further.

48-YEAR-OLD MAN APPEARED IN COURT FOR BUSINESS ROBBERY, KIDNAPPING AND POSSESSION OF SUSPECTED STOLEN PROPERTY A 48-year-old suspect, Pepukai Tsatsi, appeared before the Temba Magistrates’ Court Friday, 25 September 2026, facing charges of business robbery, kidnapping and possession of suspected stolen property. The suspect was arrested on Wednesday, 23 September 2026, following a business robbery at a premises in Makapanstad, North West, at approximately 10:30. It is alleged that the 33-year-old complainant and two employees were busy offloading wardrobes at a storeroom when two unknown men, one of whom was armed with a firearm, entered the premises. The suspects, who were wearing masks, allegedly demanded the victims’ cellphones and instructed them to remove their shoelaces, which were then used to tie their hands. The suspects searched the storeroom and allegedly loaded three deep freezers, one double-door refrigerator and two single-door refrigerators onto a company bakkie. One of the victims, who was the company’s driver, was allegedly instructed to drive the vehicle to nearby bushes. Upon arrival, the suspects instructed him to offload the stolen property. One of the suspects subsequently instructed the victim to drive towards the Industrial Site, while the other suspect remained behind. The victim returned to the business premises, where he found the police and informed them that the suspects and stolen property is nearby and could possible still be found in the bushes. Police immediately proceeded to the area with the victim. While on their way, they spotted a white bakkie allegedly transporting the stolen property. Police pursued the vehicle and stopped it. One suspect fled on foot, while the driver of the vehicle was arrested. The suspect was unable to provide proof of purchase or a satisfactory explanation regarding the fridges found in his possession. Some stolen property and the victims' cellphones were recovered. The matter was postponed to Friday, 02 October 2026 for a formal bail application, and the suspect remains in custody. The investigation is continuing, and police are still pursuing the suspect who fled the scene. The Provincial Commissioner of the North West, Lieutenant General Arthur Peter Adams, commended the police members for their swift response, which resulted in the recovery of the stolen property and the arrest of one of the suspects. Police appeal to anyone with information that could assist in identifying and locating the outstanding suspect to contact the Investigating Officer, Detective Sergeant Donald Mametse, on 079 881 9938, alternatively the nearest police station or #CrimeStop on 08600 10111. MAJ-GEN FEROZ KHAN: WILL HE APPEAR BEFORE THE MADLANGA COMMISSION? Maj-Gen Feroz Khan is scheduled to appear before the Madlanga Commission on Monday at 09:30. The big question is simple: Will he appear in person? Khan was previously unable to appear, with his medical condition raised as a reason. His legal team was asked to provide an independent medical report on his condition. He was also ordered to submit an affidavit and respond to the many serious allegations that have emerged before the Commission. There is plenty for Khan to answer. Evidence leaders have applied for parts of the proceedings to be held in camera, saying they are concerned about protecting informants and sensitive information. WhatsApp messages recovered from Khan’s phone are understood to contain sensitive information. Earlier, evidence included WhatsApp exchanges and alleged links to tobacco businessman Mohamed “Mo” Sayed and others. Evidence before the Commission has also touched on political connections, threats against journalists and procurement matters. Khan’s role at the Aeroton drug bust scene was heard. Khan’s finances and assets have also come under scrutiny. And that is why Monday is important. Will he walk into the Commission and face the questions? Will he answer the allegations? And will we finally hear his side of the story under oath? Monday could be a significant day at the Madlanga Commission.

How many more women must die?

A woman says she was threatened with a shotgun by a private security guard at Emmarentia Dam on Heritage Day. She says she was running with her dog when a guard allegedly refused to let her exit the park, became aggressive, cocked his shotgun, pointed it at her and her dog and threatened to shoot. She says she later returned with SAPS, but after the guard denied the allegations, officers initially told her there was little they could do. She says a female security guard then allegedly physically restrained her when she tried to leave. She has since opened a criminal case at Parkview SAPS, where she says officers treated her complaint seriously. The woman says serious questions now need to be answered about the conduct, training and accountability of security personnel operating in public spaces. @CityofJoburgZA

FOUR ARRESTED FOR ILLEGAL STREET RACING & DRUNK DRIVING Four motorists have been arrested in Cape Town following separate dangerous-driving incidents early this morning. Three vehicles were caught on CCTV racing from the CBD along FW de Klerk Boulevard. One, a Mercedes-Benz, crashed into a stationary Traffic Services vehicle at a truck accident scene on the N1 near Koeberg Interchange. All three drivers were arrested and their vehicles impounded. One faces charges of DUI, reckless driving and illegal street racing, while the other two GTI drivers face reckless driving and illegal street racing. Later, at about 05:00, a BMW drove through a clearly marked road closure at the N1 truck crash scene. The driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol and arrested for DUI and reckless/negligent driving. Four drivers. Four arrests. Four vehicles impounded. EKURHULENI: ANSWERS ARE NEEDED- NOW! Ten women’s bodies have been found in the Ekurhuleni area in recent months. Police have so far made a breakthrough in only ONE case - the Dawn Park murder. Investigators have yet to establish whether these cases are linked or whether a serial killer or killers are operating in the area. Now another woman’s body has been found at Mooifontein Cemetery in Tembisa. This is deeply disturbing and demands urgent action. SAPS must account for the progress of every investigation. The public can also play a critical role. If you have information or saw anything suspicious, report it to SAPS. Ten women. Ten families waiting for answers. We need a breakthrough. DNA BREAKTHROUGH LEADS TO ARREST OF SUSPECT LINKED TO MULTIPLE RAPE CASES The South African Police Service (SAPS) in North West has arrested a suspect believed to be connected to multiple rape cases following an intensive multidisciplinary investigation involving the Investigative Psychology Unit (IPU), Mmabatho Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit, and the Provincial Serial and Electronic Crime Investigation (SECI) Unit. The suspect, aged 38, was apprehended in Vryburg on Wednesday, 23 September 2026, after a thorough investigation that included forensic analysis. The suspect was positively linked through DNA evidence to the cases under investigation. The investigation was driven by collaboration among the specialised units, which worked together to analyse available evidence, establish connections between cases, and identify the suspect. In 2012, the victim, then 24 years old, was at a local tavern in Kanana. On her way home, she was approached by an unknown man who dragged her with her clothes to an open space at Vaalpark. He assaulted and raped her. In 2016, a 16-year-old victim, a minor at the time, claimed she was with her friend when they met an unknown person outside the tavern. He asked her and her friend to accompany him to an ATM. As it started raining, the suspect broke into a house and forcefully raped her in front of her friend. He chased the friend away and took the victim to a second house to rape her again. In 2022, the victim, then 20, reported that she was at a local tavern in Huhudi when she received a phone call from her father. She went outside to answer her phone. While she was responding, someone grabbed her phone and ran. She followed the suspect, who took her phone. During the chase, she encountered an unknown man who asked what she was doing in the dark. The suspect took her to a graveside where he raped her. The suspect is also linked to a 2016 rape case in Meadowlands. 38-year-old Joseph Mokgwetsi, also known as Papi, appeared before the Atamelang Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 25 September 2026, to face charges related to the linked cases. He was remanded in custody until his second court appearance before the same court on Monday, 05 October 2026, for a bail application. The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Arthur Adams, praised the arrest and commended the multidisciplinary team for their dedication and persistence in pursuing cases of Gender Based Violence and Sexual Offences. Lieutenant General Adams said the successful DNA linkage demonstrates the importance of specialised investigative capabilities and collaboration between units in strengthening investigations and ensuring that suspects are brought before the courts. “Cases involving sexual offences require thorough, victim-centred investigations. I commend the members involved for their commitment and professionalism in pursuing all leads, which resulted in identifying and arresting the suspect. We will continue to pursue perpetrators of Gender Based Violence and ensure they face justice," said Lieutenant General Adams.

This brings to ten the number of bodies found in the Ekurhuleni area over recent months.

POLICE ARREST SUSPECT FOR ALLEGED ILLICIT ALCOHOL MANUFACTURING AND POSSESSION OF UNLICENSED FIREARM On Friday, 25 September 2026, Police in Eldorado park have arrested a 33-year-old suspect during an intelligence driven operation following information regarding the alleged unlawful manufacturing and sale of illicit alcohol in the Kliptown and Eldorado Park policing precincts in the Johannesburg District. Police received reliable intelligence indicating that the suspect was allegedly involved in the unlawful manufacturing and distribution of illicit alcohol. The information further indicated that he was allegedly in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Members swiftly acted on the information and conducted a search at the suspect’s address. During the search , police recovered a 9mm firearm, two live rounds of ammunition with one magazine, suspected illicit alcohol and various packaging materials allegedly associated with the unlawful production and distribution of illicit alcohol. The suspect was arrested and is expected to appear in court soon, meanwhile police investigations in this case continue.

POLICE ARREST SUSPECT FOR FRAUD RELATED OFFENCES On Friday 25 September 2026, members of SAPS Eldorado Park Crime Prevention together with Gauteng traffic wardens conducted an intelligence driven operation which resulted in the arrest of a 47-year-old man after he was found in possession of fleet cards and credit cards. The operation follows information received regarding the alleged distribution and use of fraudulent fleet fuel cards and credit cards. The information was assessed and swiftly operationalised, leading members to an identified address where a search was conducted. Several cards believed to be linked to the alleged criminal activities were found at the premises. Police seized a total of 87 cards and one Speed Point machine. The suspect was immediately arrested and is expected to appear in court soon. The investigation is ongoing, and police are working to establish the full extent of the alleged criminal activities.
