The argument for Garand isn't that he's Igor's heir. It's that he's cost-controlled for multiple seasons and if he plays well you can parlay him into assets. It's the Talbot/Georgiev path.

#NYR are putting Dylan Garand and Taylor Raddysh on waivers today, per league source.
Team thinks Garand still has some developing to do and needs to be getting No. 1 goalie reps as a 24yr old. They're accepting the risk of losing him for nothing.

You really don’t want to lose Morrow, Robertson or Garand to waivers, so if Smits makes the team…you have to keep 1F 2D extra and send Korp down. Keeping 3 goalies, on top of being stupid, requires one of Robertson/Morrow to be waived OR to go without a spare F

My most boomer take is that we are oversaturated with "welcome back" videos. That used to be a rare moment for franchise icons and legends. Brady Tkachuk didn't accomplish anything in Ottawa and then forced his way out mid-contract. Let the fans boo without the contrived video.

Among other reasons, I think we're going to see NYR make a move by January. Maybe it's a big move or maybe it's just to add a 3rd-liner.
There's no way for @domluszczyszyn to model for this in a preseason preview, obviously.
