On this topic, last week I posted my thought that housing estates should have playground area(s) for the children of the estate. It was met with opposition. Here are just 2 examples, one from the housing area where I lived in another country. Play equipment, picnic tables, BBQ grills. It can (and should) be done.
In the late 1960s, Dublin Corporation decided to create a new suburb, and curiously, seemed to have had an idea about the right way to go about it.
There was even โ gasp โ a touch of innovation. The first few streets were deliberately curved, with blocks of three houses set at angles to each other. The garage for each house was set further back or even across the road.
Itโs wider and much more visually interesting than the usual, straight, long stretch of homes: the expansive feel acting as an encouragement for people to spend time outside their front doors. Which they do.

Princess Astrid has been on my mind a lot since King Harald died. My cousin, Arne, who was a friend of the royal family, performed her wedding at the request of King Olav V after the Bishop of Oslo refused. At a time lately when I miss family, Norway, and feel like much hope is lost, I wonder if Princess Astrid remembers my Grandmother, who lived with Arne's family for a time. I wonder what stories she might tell me that would bring me joy and a feeling of connection long gone. My heart and mind wonder and wander. My sincere condolences to Princess Astrid and family ๐

Did you know that there are no universal noise standard laws that apply in Ireland? I find that strange and wouldn't mind seeing some noise laws in residential areas being brought in.
A persistent hum is keeping families awake at night in Clondalkin.
Residents living near the Echelon data centre have complained of broken sleep and frustration, with the EPA instructing the company to investigate the source of the noise and measures to reduce it.
