The tide of indigenization cannot be turned. Addressing aero-propulsion is key, obviously. It is quite literally the heart of the matter.

⚡️MKU Limited 🇮🇳 has announced plans to establish a manufacturing facility in in the SGZID Zone, Nouasser, Morocco 🇲🇦 for the local production of Netro Optronics electro-optics (EO) & Kavro armour solutions. - The facility will serve as MKU's base for exports to the African continent. - Over the past five years, MKU has supplied optronics & personal protection products to the Moroccan armed forces. Local manufacturing marks the next phase of that engagement, bringing production closer to the end user. Localisation is at the heart of MKU's investment.

😭😭😭😭😭😭😭HPCL will start making cells before RIL does
Apparently HPCL is developing LFP & Sodium-Ion battery cells 😯🔋 🔋 LFP • Pouch — 5 Ah • Pouch — 10 Ah • Pouch — 26 Ah 🧂 Sodium-Ion • Pouch — 10 Ah • 18650 cylindrical — 1.2 Ah HPCL reportedly claims 85% capacity retention after 900 cycles at 1C. Interesting development, to be seen if anything materialises someday to production. Instead of pouch wish they do prismatic. Capacities are small, but likely a test/development thing.

CSR as it stands now is a mandatory spend with no real check on whether the money did anything. No wonder we have this situation fake trusts, inflated vendor bills and kickbacks. One easy fix (also in consonance with national need) would be to mandate routing CSR only to R&D in IITs, IISc, CSIR labs and public universities. Institutions with audited books and public output don't hand money back in cash. India spends suboptimal % of GDP on R&D. CSR could fix that in one stroke, instead of financing frauds. via @timesofindia

India needs Kerala to be the gateway to India as it once was. This literacy & QoL is all so performative until we've the economic strength to match. UP & Bihar has millions with less education & chewing pan, but they're growing. (Enough people in Kerala spit wherever they want btw, pan is the only difference). They may very well surpass Kerala at some point in most tangible metrics, maybe decades from now. Stagnant economy cannot be overcome by optics, as Japan learnt the hard way. But they've always had the tech firms to compensate, esp now in the AI boom. Meanwhile we have only communism. I've seen enough of this nonsense to last this lifetime, will be more vocal on the need for actual deeptech & logistics based sustainable & holistic development in Kerala moving forward.
Things that cannot see in North India🤣 Kerala 📈

⚡️MoD signs ₹661.5 cr contract for equipping (2x Veer & 2x Ranvir class?) Indian Navy ships with BrahMos Fire Control System & Launchers. 68% IC. Now the fun stuff. About Veer class: - INS Vidyut was equipped with 2x twin tube BrahMos launchers from the decommissioned INS Rajput, as of Dec 2025. - Rajput had 4x twin tube launchers, so imo INS Nashak, the next oldest, likely got/will get the other two. - The two youngest ships of the class INS Prabal & Pralaya currently have 16 Kh-35E, these two will likely get these new launchers? 2x2 = 4 missiles each likely like Vidyut. About Rajput / Ranvir class: - Three Rajput class vessels remain. Of these, Ranvir & Ranvijay are the, uh, least oldest & also have 8x BrahMos VLS at the stern. Rana doesn't have it, but has VLSRSAM. - Imo this contract is likely entirely for inclined launchers. If it were for an upgrade of the current VLS & FCS, it should be a separate contract? - Ranvir & Ranvijay may get 4 twin tube launchers each (8 BrahMos missiles). - If this happens these 2 Rajput - Ranvir class destroyers will have 16 BrahMos missiles, same as our P15A&B destroyers (P15 Delhi class has 8x inclined) Pics in order: Rajput, Ranvir, Ranvijay
Multiple reports had recently indicated that the Veer class would be equipped with BrahMos. INS Vidyut already sports two twin tube inclined BrahMos launchers (pic 1). INS Vidyut & Vipul were part of the 2025 Op Demo of the Navy held at Thiruvananthapuram. Some thoughts: - Vipul still has P-15. Vidyut was the youngest (30+) of the Veer class ships which had P-15 - Two ships INS Prabal & Pralaya are younger (23+) but have 16 Kh-35E - So which other ships of the class will get BrahMos?? Remains to be seen. - The launcher on Vidyut strongly resembles the four inclined launchers on INS Rajput, each with 2 missiles (pic 2). - Rajput was decommissioned in 2021. There is a good possibility Vidyut received its pair of launchers from Rajput. If so two more launchers should be available & thus can expect atleast one more Veer class vessel to get BrahMos? INS Nashak is the next youngest with P-15. - It's a great upgrade although not as comprehensive as the Delhi class upgrade (pic 3) - Veer class will likely be replaced by upcoming six CSL NGMV class, which is also likely to have two launchers with two BrahMos missiles each. ADRDE - DRDO 👏 - High Altitude Platform System (HAPS), a long-endurance stratospheric aerial surveillance platform was successfully flight tested. - Experimental flight attained an altitude of 21 km AMSL - Remained at an altitude of 20 km AMSL for more than 30 minutes, carrying useful instrumentation systems, before it was commanded to descend back to ground. The system was successfully recovered and flight performance data was analyzed. Endurance is key for a stratospheric airship. DRDO has great plans with these with various payloads. Hope the testing progresses rapidly & the need for a dedicated airship test facility is met.

Of course, the Veer class is now also the lighest warship class to be equipped with BrahMos. With a displacement of under 500 tons, this might be as low as it ever goes, NGMV should breach the 1000 ton mark, going by the RFI. - How will Veer class find its targets? Certainly hasn't received any organic long range sensors for acquisition. Can think of two possibilities: networking with other assets for targeting or perhaps (more likely imo) meant mainly for land attack versions of BrahMos given the history of the squadron. - The age of the ships makes any comprehensive upgrade unlikely & unnecessary. And upgrades like these are legitimate stopgaps imo.

Well just realized I've never posted about Zulu before. They make cool UAVs that are in service as seen:x.com/suryacommand/status/18… (Vid has DRAP, HOVERBEE & Volume35) - CLAD will likely be able to launch DRAP LM with 5kg warhead & HOVERBEE - Cool stealthy LM render too. IG Defence JWALA Mk1 Short-Range Surface-to-Air Missile for Air Defence against UAVs - 2-5 km extended short-range engagement envelope - < 7 seconds target detection to missile launch - Pre-fragmented High-Explosive HE warhead - 0.5-1.5 kg with proximity fuze - Dual-pulse solid rocket motor with fin control (I'd guess the specs are subject to change)
IG Defence successfully test-fired two solid rocket motors under the JWALA micro-missile programme focused on creating a robust affordable and scalable hard-kill CUAS system to neutralise drones.
