Personally I prefer the MERJ research. Summarised quite well in this graphic and one liner below it. Brave isn't Google or Bing. You don't have to push pages individually. Just have a website or series of pages people visit via the Brave Browser. Their crawler does the rest
Technical SEO Tip: Claude uses Brave as the primary search engine. If you want your content indexed faster by Brave, you can use their "Submit URL" tool

Flagged this two years ago (yikes). Any indexing state can move into the 'crawled - currently not indexed'. Because it hasn't been recrawled for a while. These pages will then move to 'Discovered - currently not indexed' and finally to 'URL is unknown to Google'.
Index Coverage update: I have noticed this a lot over the past several months. Sites seeing categories of "Not indexed" urls drop heavily, which look like they were routed to "Crawled, not indexed". So it's like the categories flipped... I have seen that across a number of sites I have audited recently. For example, see 'alt page with proper canonical' drop, 'redirects' drop, etc., and CNI surges like mad at the exact same time. Just an interesting observation. :)

I know, I know @rustybrick has seen this before. But I haven't. A navigational query shows the actual page before AI Overviews. I like it. It's what I want as a user, not an AI generated summary of the report. Just making sure it has been seen.

Why is Bing WMT needs an SEO. First 2 links don't take you to where you want to go.

Be cool if you could have a conversation with your brand. Brand data pulled from: Search queries, articles from across the web, backlink data, fan out queries, people also ask data, etc. And you just have a chat with it. Anything like that people of X?

Is your site sitting behind Cloudflare? If yes, Go to Security -> Settings -> Configure AI bot policies Under "Training" section make sure "Allow (do not block)" is selected. Do this before 15th of September. Why? From this date onwards, If you have selected the block training option, Cloudflare will block multi-purpose crawlers (specifically those that combine Search with Training) such as Googlebot, Applebot, and BingBot. This will destroy your SEO work. Take action and pass this on to your devops/developers.

If you focus on getting visits you get visits. If you focus on driving revenue, you get revenue. This seems like a stupidly simple statement... ...but you'd be surprise how many focus on the former. And not on the latter. It changes how you prioritise and sequence your work.

New from Google's Brendon Kraham -> Good SEO is good GEO "Our new generative AI features are rooted in the same core ranking and quality systems as traditional Search. And, because these AI experiences retrieve up-to-date content from the existing search index, the best formula for success remains foundational SEO." Some things to keep in mind according to Brendon: 1. Don’t worry about all the new names. Good GEO, AEO, LLM SEO is good SEO 2. Don’t optimize for bots. Optimize for people. There’s no need to write awkward, keyword-stuffed copy or chunk your content into tiny, artificial snippets. Our systems understand language just like a human. 2a. Also, chasing inauthentic mentions is not helpful as it might seem. 3. Don’t focus on generic content. Prioritize your unique perspective 4. Don’t forget your website. Build a great web experience business.google.com/us/think…

Pretty cool. You can see the search intent of Bing Grounding Queries if you download the report. And ask Claude to create a chart to summarise the trends. For example, this website it seems they are appearing for Research and Info grounding queries in AI. Not buyer queries.

Anyone else unsubscribing to a lot of newsletters? I used to be a big believer in newsletters. Now its info overload, as everyone fires off their thoughts into the digital cloud.

Almost ready. BigQuery integration for Indexing Insight. It can help you do cool things like...create workbooks and automated dashboards.

Indexing Insight + BigQuery + Claude. Starting to play around with connecting Google Indexing data with Claude using BigQuery connector. Immediately spotted a trend I never thought to plot.

The page indexing report hasn't been updated since last Friday... ...I actually almost missed this. Mainly because my indexing data updates daily in Indexing Insight.
