Bitget hack is getting crazier every time another detail drops
First it was around $170M moving from Bitget wallets
Then the exchange confirmed unauthorized transfers
Now the damage is approximately $351.6M
The affected assets include $157.5M XRP, $85.8M ETH, $34.8M USDT, $21.1M USDC, plus USDT0, XAUt, BNB, AVAX and TRX
The attacker is swapping the stolen assets into ETH across several networks
Bitget says cold wallets stayed secure, withdrawals were temporarily suspended, and the $464M+ User Protection Fund covers the reported loss
Gracy Chen says investigators also found IP/VPN similarities with infrastructure associated with a DPRK-linked group, though attribution is still developing
And now Bitget joins the biggest hack list alongside Bybit, Ronin, Poly Network, BNB Chain, FTX, Mt. Gox and Wormhole
This started as a few suspicious transactions on-chain
Now the entire crypto timeline is watching one exchange wallet
Popcorn stays on the desk
Friday mode on
Crypto security really never gets a day off
Lesson is there
