🚨 Russia is increasingly targeting Kyiv’s digital infrastructure. Ukrainian monitoring channels report that Russia has conducted reconnaissance of around 40 data centres in Kyiv, raising concerns that further strikes could be aimed at disrupting internet and communications across the capital. The warning comes after a series of attacks that have already caused real disruptions. In just the past two days, damage has affected infrastructure used by multiple providers, including: • UTELS — internet provider • Pavutyna — internet provider • Etherlink — internet provider • Crazy Network — internet provider • Cityhost — hosting provider • MiroHost — hosting provider The damage is not theoretical. On September 23, attacks on data-centre infrastructure disrupted services for approximately 100,000 households in Kyiv, according to Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation. UTELS and Pavutyna both confirmed damage to facilities containing critical network equipment. (Critical Threats) This is what modern Russian attacks increasingly look like: not only missiles and drones against buildings, but strikes against the infrastructure that keeps a major European capital connected. Internet access. Communications. Digital services. Access to information. When this infrastructure is attacked, the consequences reach far beyond the companies operating it. Kyiv needs to remain connected. And the international community should be paying attention to what is happening to Ukraine’s civilian digital infrastructure.
