To give a more specific diagnosis in what I see, it’s a recovery of what the ends are. All ends have been totally lost within our nation. Instead, what were once the means to secure the ends are treated as the ends themselves. For example, voting was not treated as an end by the men who created America, but now democracy, the process itself, is what is treated as most sacred. In reality at our foundation, the end was to secure the best men possessing both talent and virtue to fill our political offices, the natural aristocracy. Voting when given to the qualified population was seen as simply the means by which these men could best be selected from among potential candidates. That was why we had it. That was its purpose. This is just one among many that has been utterly lost, where now the actual process itself is what is treated as sacrosanct and unchallengeable. This is just one of many. The constitution itself is yet another. The structure it provided is just a means to fulfill specific ends. What are those ends? Everything that’s in the preamble. Now, the preamble itself is utterly forgotten. Instead, the structure and the processes which follow and exist only for the purposes of securing what is in the preamble are treated as holy and utterly beyond question and reproach, where to even suggest that perhaps there might be some flaws that might have occurred in the intervening 200+ years since its adoption is often treated as though you have attacked the very existence of America itself. I disagree with absolutely none of the ends the Founding Fathers fought for. I want a government which represents the American people’s interests. I want a more perfect Union, to establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, to provide for the common defence, to promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity. I want to preserve the nation. These are the actual ends. All institutions and written laws, even that of the constitution, are simply the means meant to secure these things. And if the means are failing to secure these things, then new means must be adopted or at the very least considered for adoption in order to do so.
