Recently went to the cinema with my girlfriend to see Call of My Life, and honestly, it was a fun watch. It’s clearly a take on the classic Western romance formula, and while some of the story beats were predictable, the movie was charming enough to make it work. More importantly, it avoided a lot of the cringe that can sometimes come with Nollywood’s attempts at romance. The pacing felt a little rushed, especially in places where I wanted the characters and their relationship to breathe a bit more, but thankfully, it didn’t take away from the overall message. Shaggi was also used pretty well and, thankfully, wasn’t overbearing. 😂 The two leads carried the movie really well too their chemistry made the romance believable and easy to root for. Not a perfect movie, but definitely a fun cinema experience. Sometimes a predictable romance is all you need when it’s done with enough charm. Call of My Life ❤️🎬
