BREAKING: Middle Eastern man accused of imprisoning and repeatedly gang-raping a 14 year old girl is free on bail in Melbourne.
Mohamed Hafda, 23, of Lalor, walked into Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 31 July, pleaded not guilty to 14 indictable charges, and walked back out.
Bail extended.
Police allege he and co accused Massimo Salerno, 22, of South Morang, held the girl prisoner and repeatedly gang raped her in Coburg in September 2023. Fawkner sex crime detectives charged both on 14 January 2026, after the matter was reported.
The charges include imprisonment, sexual assault and penetration, and causing the child to touch them sexually without consent.
Hafda is also accused of supplying her drugs.
Salerno had bail on these charges too.
He is now on remand over unrelated alleged offending and appeared from the Metropolitan Remand Centre.
Hafda did not.
Both deny the allegations.
The case is heading to the County Court.
Victoria granted bail to a man facing 14 charges over the alleged imprisonment and repeated rape of a child, then extended it.
The ABC, The Age, the Herald Sun didn’t even bother covering the hearing.
