Take Deng Xiaoping’s long strategy of building economic power, avoiding unnecessary wars, and quietly expanding Chinese capabilities while the U.S. kept spending blood and money elsewhere.

Brandon also says he heard of an unconfirmed briefing before the Iran war warning that within five years, the balance could shift so far that Washington might no longer be able to launch this kind of operation against a medium-sized power.
If that briefing existed, the logic is unsettlingly simple:

🇺🇸🇨🇳 America is burning through military power while China keeps building.
The U.S. is being pulled deeper into conflicts across the Middle East and Europe while simultaneously trying to modernize its air force, rebuild munitions stocks and expand a shipbuilding base that has struggled to keep pace.
China is moving in the opposite direction.
Beijing continues to mass-produce military systems, expand the PLA Navy and deepen its position across global energy and industrial supply chains.
The contrast is becoming harder to ignore: Washington is consuming military capacity in active conflicts while Beijing is accumulating it.
That broadly fits the strategy China has pursued for decades: avoid unnecessary direct confrontation, build economic strength and steadily expand military capability.
The most striking warning concerns how quickly that gap could widen.
Brandon Weichert says he was told of a pre-Iran-war intelligence briefing suggesting that within five years, the U.S.-China military balance could deteriorate to the point where Washington might struggle to conduct an operation against a medium-sized power on the scale it can today.
That briefing has not been independently confirmed.
But the underlying strategic question remains.
How long can the U.S. keep projecting enormous military power abroad without rebuilding the industrial base required to replace what it is using?

Tired of this excuse. First of all, social security is not something you “pay into.” If it were, you wouldn’t need younger people to “pay into it” in order to get your check. But you do. Because this is a Ponzi scheme, not a retirement account. What you really mean to say is that your money was stolen from you — which it was — and now you want to steal from younger people to get restitution. That’s the actual case you’re making and it’s exactly as morally deranged as it sounds.
Second, your generation continually for decades voted for politicians who would keep the scheme going. You might not have invented social security, but you damn sure made certain it kept going. Why should younger people have to pay the price for the shitty policies you supported?
Third, you “paid into” social security in a different time. The country is now bankrupted and 40 trillion dollars in debt, and basic things like housing are prohibitively expensive. It wasn’t like that when you were young, because your generation of leadership created this problem.
So the theme here is that there are a bunch of problems you guys either created or contributed to. You can choose to pay the price for that now, or force your grandchildren to pay the price so you can live comfortably until you die and leave them holding the bag. You’ve chosen the latter, and I think that’s wrong. Simple as that.
Matt, the older people expecting Social Security have PAID INTO IT their entire lives.
Young people are just doing the exact same thing we did.
They're not getting some special punishment to subsidize older people.
And older people have a higher net worth BECAUSE THEY'VE WORKED!
