Lol my real name is Akua (ahhh-kuu-ahh). My dad who's a Pan -Africanist Jamaican Rastafarian gave me the Ghanaian female variant of Kwaku (Akua - ahh-kwee-ahh). Funnily enough, My dad was also my swim Coach from North all the way up to the Jamaican national swim and water polo teams. Because Jamaicans have a propensity to mispronounce names (lol my dad literally made the pronunciation of my name a mispronunciation of Akua, after all), everyone outside of my family calls me AQUA (Ah-Kwa) or water, everyone inside my family uses my middle name and they pronounce it differently depending on which side of the family they're on. I got into recreational aquatics when I was at UWI and was a J1 lifeguard and it was all downhill from there lol now I am called by many names, but I identify with each one.
