It's also shocking and awful that your mob came straight out of the blocks with this front page, while nine days later the true motive for this terrible attack has still not been established.

In 2015-16 a massive labour trafficking scam abusing the asylum system began under Peter Dutton's watch. There was no response from the Immigration minister.

They should impeach Trump just for this. Disgusting.
Alex Pretti's father: Our son was shot and killed by the government, federal immigration agents, on January 24th, 2026. We learned about his death from the media as we saw him being shot repeatedly in the back after helping a woman from his community. This was not a protest that Alex was at. His hands were in the air, and his face was on the ground when he was executed by ICE agents. We know exactly what our eyes saw. No one from the federal government called us on that day. But they did go on TV to tell lies about Alex. No one has called us since. No one has recanted those lies.

You are responsible for this situation. Denying that makes the situation worse.
New data from the ABS shows that inflation ticked up in September. While we already had an inflation challenge in our economy, the conflict in the Middle East is making it worse. We recognise people are under pressure and that’s why we are rolling out responsible cost of living relief like cutting income taxes again and boosting bulk billing. We are playing our part in the fight against inflation by finding savings.

It’s hard to imagine a woman less suited to our times. The world is burning from an excess of indulgence, gentle parenting and a 60s libertarian fad for chucking unwell people out of asylums. Meanwhile, Sydney University hires an empathiser in chief. Yes, I’m sure some more head-titled nodding will heal what ails us. Politicians have to accept their share of responsibility. But when media monopolies constantly churn out infantile front page hit pieces they can't squeal when criticised either.

What the hell has happened to Australia. Another 100,000 are going hungry while billionaires buy 4th or fifth yacht or jet. If Gov was fair dinkum they would tax the billionaires an extra 10% and buy food for poor.

Sunday evening rant: Mainstream politics has gotta stop telling people how they should feel, and criticising them for how they actually feel. That's *literally* what gave birth to Trumpism, and is boosting ON. If you won't *act* to help them, don't be surprised by their vote.

I'm not sure where you are coming from here Scott. but Jim Chalmers, for one, has empathised with voters repeatedly in media appearances and constantly admitted there is still a lot more work to do. I notice you don't mention MSM misinformation and rage-baiting in your 'rant'.

The attack on MP Helen Haines has put the spotlight on the issue of violence against politicians. Peter Dutton has blasted social media giants for giving a “safe haven for deranged individuals” and warning “occasionally their delusion is carried into the real world and we see a sickening attack like the one on Helen”. Sound Chris Kenny analysis: “It is cowardly and dishonest for our political class not to recognise the reality; that most of the demonisation and violence in our polity comes from the left. It can come from any corner, or course, and should be resisted by all, but the left has form… “It might be a long while before we know exactly what motivated the lunatic who allegedly crushed Helen Haines’ legs with his Land Cruiser, but we do know he had a social media account full of anti-Israeli bile, along with plenty of climate activism. “Anyone who pays attention will be certain that if he had posted once in support of One Nation then Labor and the media would be describing him as a hard-right assailant, yet few have described him as hard-left – they seem to want to censor the partisan angle.” The PM who ignored the flames now demands we ‘lower the temperature’ theaustralian.com.au/inquire…

If you care to view Hanson's 'apology' you will see it was a claytons apology. This is not to excuse Anthony Albanese, but try to forget you are writing for a Stokes/Rinehart publication.

How much more grubby can Australian politics get? Australians have every right to question who gets taxpayer money. But when Helen Haines questioned Albanese’s community sports grants, his office circulated a dirt sheet attacking her integrity. It’s despicable. And the Liberals play the same grubby game. In August, The Australian newspaper identified two “dirt unit” researchers working in Angus Taylor’s office. And a Labor strategist was recently quoted about having dirt sheets on One Nation, saying: “We’ve got a lot on One Nation … But unlike the Liberals we’re holding it back.” A Labor MP was reported last month saying: “Throwing shit at them risks making them more popular.” Read that again. This is how they talk about attacking their opponents behind closed doors. They can’t defend their records. They can’t sell their policies. So they feed dirt to the media and trash reputations. The major parties have taken turns running our country into the ground. Australians are struggling to pay their bills while the major parties use taxpayer-funded staff to shovel dirt. Australians deserve politicians focused on their lives, their families and their futures. Instead, they get an incompetent, dishonest government and an opposition playing the same dirty games. Our country deserves better.

Police allege one lone man is behind the appalling attack on MP Helen Haines. Yet, to hear the PM, there may be others responsible. Namely, you, I and every other ordinary Aussie at risk of being radicalised by social media, writes James Morrow. #OPINION 🎤 bit.ly/4sjzMKv We launched a faster, redesigned app - with all new puzzles: bit.ly/3RceccM
