Random cybersecurity thought that nobody seems to be talking about...
There's a security risk hiding in something millions of people do every single day.
And most people have absolutely no idea.
Giving your credit card information OVER THE PHONE.
Think about it.
You call a business. You want to purchase a product or service. The employee asks for your credit card details.
You read out all 16 digits, the expiry date, and sometimes even your CVV.
Seems harmless, right?
Here's where things get scary.
More and more businesses are recording their calls, and AI platforms are automatically transcribing those conversations.
Your credit card details could now exist as text in a transcript, stored on a third-party platform you've never heard of.
And you have no idea who has access to it, how long it's stored, or how securely it's protected.
One data breach. One compromised account. One poorly configured integration.
That's potentially all it takes.
My advice?
Stop reading your credit card details over the phone whenever possible.
Ask for a secure payment link or use a trusted checkout instead.
AI is making businesses more efficient, but it's also creating security risks that most consumers don't even know exist.
And this is one of them.
