Yesterday was a powerful day for second chances. I am deeply grateful to President @RealDonaldTrump for granting clemency and pardons to 30 deserving individuals whose cases we carefully reviewed and brought forward—and to the White House Counsel team, led by Will Scharf, for the hard work behind these decisions. Among them is Emory Jones, who served nearly 16 years in federal prison and came home determined to build a different life. Today he is an entrepreneur and creative leader whose journey reminds us how much people can grow—and how much good they can still do. I am also especially grateful to our partners at clemency clinics across the country. Their thoughtful work helped us identify deserving candidates from many different walks of life, including women like Molly Ann Bloom, Holly Leanne Frantzen and Shemika Williams. This work is both challenging and important. But ultimately, it is justice work—and, for me, Jesus work. My prayer is that each of these 30 people makes the most of this extraordinary second chance and becomes a greater blessing to their families, communities and the world. To God be the glory. 🙏🏽🇺🇸

We will miss Josh Smith and his important voice. The work he and the BOP team have done to make our federal prisons smarter and safer has been inspiring—as has been Josh’s own remarkable journey of faith and redemption. Along the way, Josh gave so many incarcerated men and women hope, and I believe the impact of that work will be felt for a long time to come. I am grateful for his service and wish him and his family every blessing as he begins this next chapter. May God continue to guide him. 🙏🏽🇺🇸

Two weeks ago, I returned to Carswell for the first time since leaving in 2013 with the incredible team from @GodBehindBars. Carswell was my home for more than a decade before I was transferred to another federal prison. Five years later, @RealDonaldTrump granted me clemency. Walking back through those gates brought back a flood of memories. I stood outside the tiny cell where four women shared one small space and sat again where I studied, wrote plays, prayed, and dreamed about a future I could not yet see. I missed my family every day. But I never stopped living. I made real friends, grew in my faith, helped other women with their legal cases, and tried to bring hope wherever I could. The most moving moment was praying with the women and watching more than 60 of them be baptized. I wanted them to know that their story is not over—and that if they keep growing, keep believing, and prepare themselves, one day I hope I might have the privilege of bringing some of their cases to the President. Thank you to God Behind Bars, @BOPDepDirector Josh Smith, Warden Tyal Rule, and the entire Carswell staff for welcoming me back and for the difficult work of making our prisons safer, more humane, and more focused on rehabilitation. Today is my Freedomversary. Eight years ago, President Trump granted me clemency and gave me a second chance at life. After nearly 22 years in prison, I walked out the gates and into a future I had prayed for but could no longer see. I will never forget that moment. Prison took many things from me, including years with my family and the loss of my parents and a son. But I never lost hope or faith that my life still had purpose. The gift of freedom came with a responsibility: to help others. Over the last eight years, I’ve advocated for second chances, supported criminal justice reform, and now serve as White House Pardon Czar. From a prison cell to the White House, this journey has been possible through God’s grace and President Trump’s courage. Every day, I strive to honor that gift by helping others find hope and a path forward. Thank you to everyone who prayed for me, believed in me, and supported me along the way. President Trump gave me a second chance at life. Now, it is my mission to help others have the same opportunity.   We have sent emails to the University of Minnesota, University of Chicago, University of St. Thomas, University of California, Villanova University, and NYU with additional details on how their clemency clinics can participate in this important effort. We are excited to partner with law students and faculty to submit candidates that deserve a second chance for consideration.   As a reminder, anyone is able to submit a clemency request for consideration.

Today, @GovernorKayIvey showed what courageous and common sense leadership looks like. By commuting the death sentence of Charles “Sonny” Burton, she ensured that justice—not technicalities—guides the most serious decision a state can make. The tragic death of Doug Battle 35 years ago will never be forgotten. But as his daughter, Tori Battle, powerfully wrote, executing a man who did not pull the trigger would only compound that tragedy. Justice and mercy walked together today. Mercy saves lives. 🙏🏽

Spent yesterday at the America 250 Summit thinking about our future in the age of AI. My friend @BenHorowitz was brilliant—reminding us that America’s greatest strength has always been giving people a real shot to contribute, build, and dream big. That spirit helped us lead the Industrial Revolution, and it must guide us in the AI revolution now. Thank you to Ben and the @a16z team for challenging all of us to keep believing in American dynamism—and to keep betting on America. 🇺🇸

A year ago, I was entrusted with a historic calling—to serve as our nation’s first White House Pardon Czar. Last week, I was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Trump Kennedy Center, made possible by @BCFOfficial_ . From prison to the White House, my life has been a living testimony that people are more than their worst mistake—and that justice is strongest when accountability walks with mercy. This work is not easy. It is heavy, human work. But every family reunited, every life restored, reminds me why it matters. Grateful to my family, to President Donald Trump @POTUS , to the @WhiteHouse Counsel team, and to all who carry this work with me. Trying to walk in the light of my hero, Harriet Tubman.
