Ontem (17), Gustavo Scarpa, jogador do Atlético-MG, usou suas redes sociais para recomendar “A Noite”, de Elie Wiesel, sobrevivente do Holocausto e vencedor do Prêmio Nobel da Paz. O livro é baseado nas experiências vividas por Wiesel durante o Holocausto, genocídio de 6 milhões de judeus perpetrado pelo regime nazista durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial. No vídeo, Scarpa classificou o tema como “delicado”, leu trechos da obra e reagiu aos relatos sobre a brutalidade do nazismo. A indicação chama ainda mais atenção porque, recentemente, Scarpa também recomendou “A Morte de Ivan Ilitch”, de Liev Tolstói. Depois da publicação, o clássico russo ganhou enorme visibilidade e chegou ao topo das listas de livros mais vendidos no Brasil. Em uma época de crescimento do antissemitismo e em que o negacionismo e a distorção do Holocausto ainda encontram espaço, é especialmente importante que pessoas com grande alcance usem suas redes para dar visibilidade a esse tipo de relato. Manter viva a memória do que aconteceu também é uma forma de enfrentar o ódio, a desinformação e as tentativas de apagar a história.

Ten million people have watched an MIT professor accidentally destroy the executive coaching industry. He filmed the lecture once in January 2018 and died eighteen months later. Executive coaches charge fifteen thousand dollars a session to teach a third of what he covered in one hour for free. His name was Patrick Winston. He ran the MIT Artificial Intelligence Laboratory from 1972 to 1997 and wrote the AI textbook every computer science major in the world read for thirty years. Every January for four decades, he gave a lecture called "How to Speak." His entire framework fits on a napkin. Do not read. Be in the image. Keep images simple. Eliminate clutter. Start with an empathetic connection. End with a punch line the audience can repeat over dinner. Never open with a joke. Never end with "thank you." That last rule alone has probably cost the executive coaching industry a hundred million dollars. "Your success in life will be determined largely by your ability to speak, your ability to write, and the quality of your ideas. In that order." That is the actual opening line of the lecture. Winston believed it strongly enough to spend fifty years teaching computer scientists how to talk. Founders spend $80,000 on an MBA and then hire a communications coach to teach them the same material Winston filmed once for free. Engineers write brilliant code and lose promotions to teammates who watched this lecture on the train. The lecture is free on MIT OpenCourseWare. The textbook is free on his page. Winston died in 2019. Almost none of the ten million viewers have actually implemented the four rules on the napkin. The napkin is free. The willingness to actually use it in your next meeting is the entire edge.

The only exception is Nablus, inhabited by about 120 members of the Muslim Natsha family and approximately 70 Samaritans. 4. About 5,000 people live in Jerusalem; almost all Jews, and a few Christians. 5. The names of most of the settlements are of Jewish origin, and some have Greek or Roman Latin names. Apart from the city of Ramla, there is no Arab settlement whose original name is Arabic. Place names derived from Jewish, Greek or Latin are usually adapted into Arabic and meaningless... 6. Approximately 550 people live in Gaza, half of whom are Jews and half are Christians. After three weeks of assisting in Venezuela following the devastating earthquakes, Israeli earthquake-relief team has returned home with a huge thanks from the President of Venezuela. They not only helped directly with finding survivors and distributing medical care, but a team of civil engineers from Tel Aviv University worked to determine which buildings were safe and which were at risk of falling in the future due to hidden structural damage. Israel will continue to assist with rebuilding efforts remotely.
