This objection is why viewpoint diversity is the wrong way to think about the problem: a visual metaphor that undermines the core intellectual virtue of revisability. The problem (roughly) is the space of ideas considered not the viewpoint of the profs. bostonglobe.com/2023/03/29/o…
So where do you find these ‘viewpoints,’ so clear, unchanging, and fixed? Like, if I wanted one, how would I get it? And once I got it, could I loose it? Could it change? Could I change? Who manages & polices them all, testing & certifying their legibility?

This is a brilliant idea:
"A student’s transcript would show two overall grade-point averages. Next to the traditional GPA will appear a second number that adjusts course grades based on the median grade in each class. A student who earns an A in a course where the median grade is also an A would receive less of a boost than one who earns an A in a tougher course. If a student filled his schedule with easy-A classes, his transcript might show a traditional GPA of 4.0 and an adjusted GPA of 2.7. This large difference communicates that the student’s traditional GPA overstates his academic performance."

Important points! Root cause is that there is no clear bounds on “faculty” and no theoretically defensible measure of individual ideology. Best it can be is a proxy for the universe of ideas considered and debated on campus which is the right concept to care about.
There is no such thing as a perfect measure of faculty ideology.
Surveys: low response rates, social desirability
Twitter follows (i.e. Barberá 2015): many academics have left the platform
Donations: many faculty don't donate
So any measure needs to come with, at minimum, very serious caveats.
